DV Lottery Green Card Program

Diversity Visa Lottery 2025

Application Deadline: Nov. 2nd, 2023

Only until Nov. 2th, 2023, you can apply for the DV-2025

What is the Green Card lottery?

The Diversity Visa Program, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery, is a United States initiative that has been annually awarding 55,000 Green Cards through random selection since 1994. This program provides an opportunity for individuals from countries with historically lower rates of immigration to the United States to become eligible for immigrant visas.

Great Britain is eligible for the DV-2025

With the release of the "DV-2025 Program Instructions," the U.S. Department of State has made an historic announcement: individuals born in the UK can now qualify to participate in the U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery for the very first time.

The decision is based on the fact that the number of immigrants from the UK has dropped below the 50,000 mark over the last five years. This drop is probably due to the quiet COVID period. However, it is unlikely that this eligibility will continue for many years. It's important to note that this eligibility may not be available for an extended period. Therefore, individuals from the UK who are interested should seize this unique opportunity while it lasts.

Permanent Resident Card

What is a Green Card?

A U.S. Green Card, officially known as a Permanent Resident Card, is an identification document of the United States that grants you the legal right to live and work permanently in the country. It is a highly sought-after immigration document that grants non-U.S. citizens the privilege of permanent residency in the country, allowing them to enjoy many of the same rights and benefits as U.S. citizens.

Am I eligible to apply?

Almost everyone can apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery! There are only two requirements to qualify for a U.S. Green Card:

  • Country of birth

  • At least a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education

  • Or two (2) years of work experience within the past five (5) years in an position that requires at least two (2) years of training or experience to perform.

Which countries can’t participate in the DV Lottery?

Due to the high volume of immigration from specific countries, only applicants from countries with historically lower rates of immigration to the United States are eligible to participate in the U.S. Diversity Visa (DV) lottery and apply for a chance to obtain a Green Card. This policy is designed to promote diversity in the immigration process, providing individuals from less-represented regions with increased opportunities to pursue lawful permanent residency in the United States through the Green Card lottery.

However, exceptions do exist. If you were born in one of the excluded countries, but your spouse was born in an eligible country, you can still take part in the DV Lottery.
